Overview

Oita Prefecture is Japan’s hot spring capital, known for its variety of onsen experiences. Beppu stands out with its famous Jigoku Meguri, or “hells,” and a wide range of baths from seaside sand baths to modern resorts. Nearby, Yufuin charms visitors with boutique ryokan, Kinrin Lake, and lively Yunotsubo Kaido shopping street.

For a more rustic atmosphere, Kurokawa Onsen in the mountains offers traditional wooden inns and outdoor baths surrounded by nature. Beyond hot springs, Oita is also home to rich craftsmanship, such as bamboo weaving in Beppu, and local specialties like toriten (chicken tempura).

Blending natural beauty, cultural traditions, and soothing hot springs, Oita is the perfect place to relax and recharge in Kyushu.
